Drywall Repair
Holes, dents, cracks, and full panel replacement, patched, textured, and painted so the repair blends into the rest of the wall.
Drywall takes damage in a lot of ordinary ways: a doorknob punching through a wall, furniture getting moved the wrong way, a picture hook that tore loose, settling cracks around door and window frames, or a section that got soft from humidity. In rental properties and older homes we also see a lot of damage from previous patch jobs that were never finished properly, just mudded over and left to crack again.
None of this is unusual, and most of it is a straightforward fix once someone experienced is doing the work. The tricky part isn't cutting out the bad section, it's making the new section disappear into the old wall.
Every drywall repair follows roughly the same steps, though the details change with the size and location of the damage:
Pricing depends mostly on the size of the damaged area, how many separate spots need repair, how difficult the texture match will be, and whether there's any complicating factor like water damage or an odd ceiling height. As a general guide, most small repairs (nail holes, doorknob dings, minor cracks) run in the $150 to $500 range, while larger repairs involving multiple rooms or full panel replacement cost more. These are general industry-typical ranges, not a quote. The only way to get an accurate number for your specific repair is a free in-person or photo-based estimate.
Patch kits from the hardware store can close a hole, but they rarely disappear. The most common problem is texture: a smooth patch dropped into a wall with knockdown or orange peel texture will always read as a flat spot, especially under angled light. The second most common problem is paint sheen, a slightly different sheen or a paint that's aged differently than the surrounding wall shows up as a visible rectangle even after the patch itself is invisible up close.
Getting a patch to actually vanish takes matching the texture pattern by hand, feathering the compound out wide enough that there's no ridge, and blending the paint into the surrounding area rather than just painting the patch itself.
Texture is where most repairs succeed or fail. We keep test boards and a range of tools on hand so we can match knockdown, orange peel, or smooth finishes to what's already on your wall, rather than applying a generic texture and hoping it's close enough. If your home has a distinctive or older texture, take a look at our dedicated texture matching page for more detail on how that process works.
If the damage came from a leak or appliance failure rather than everyday wear, see our water damage repair page, since soggy drywall needs to be handled differently than a simple hole or crack. We repair drywall throughout Clearwater, Tampa, and the rest of the Tampa Bay area.
