Water Damage Repair
Stained, sagging, soft, or bubbling drywall from leaks, storms, or appliance failures, cut out and rebuilt properly rather than painted over.
Water damage to drywall doesn't always show up right away, and it doesn't always look dramatic at first. Common warning signs include:
Leaks, storm intrusion, roof damage, and appliance failures (washing machines, water heaters, dishwashers, AC condensate lines) are the most common causes we see across Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Tampa, and the rest of the Tampa Bay area.
Drywall is essentially a paper-faced gypsum panel, and once it absorbs water it loses structural integrity in that area permanently, even after it dries out. Painting over a water stain without addressing the underlying material might hide the discoloration for a while, but the weakened drywall stays weakened, and stains from an active or recurring leak will bleed straight through fresh paint within weeks. If the damage came from a slow or hidden leak, there's also a real risk of hidden mold growth inside the wall cavity that painting over the surface does nothing to address.
The only reliable fix is to remove the affected drywall back to solid, dry material, then patch, tape, texture, and paint it like any other repair.
Water damage on a ceiling often overlaps with our popcorn ceiling removal work, since older textured ceilings are common in homes with this kind of damage. Once the repair is done, a lot of homeowners choose to repaint the whole room rather than just the patch, our interior painting page covers that option. For general drywall damage that isn't water related, see our main drywall repair page.
